Predappio is on the main road no.3 of Rabbi, about 15 km from Forlì, direction to Premilcuore.

The most ancient settlement is the present “Predappio Alta” (high Predappio) with roman origins. It is on a spur of a mountainand still today it looks like an ancient medieval village.

In 1927, because of the fear of possible landslides, following the will of Benito Mussolini it was decided to start in the valley underneath the building of a new town.

That part of the town was built according to the taste and ideology of that historic period and today it represents the Urban Museum of Predappio

Benito Mussolini was born on 29 July 1883 in Dovia di Predappio and he died in Giulino di Mezzegra, Como on 28th April 1945.He was an italian politician  who founded the fascism and he was  the guide of the country from october 1922 to July 1943.

His family was a modest one his father Alessandro was a blacksmith and his mother was an elementary teacher. He studie at the “Salesian College” in Faenza  and he passed the schoolleaving examination at the “Carducci College” in Forlimpopoli.

His death is wrapped in mystery: according to one theory he was not killed by the commander partisan colonel Valerio but by some British secret agents who aimed to gain posses of some correspondence that would have compromised Churchill.

Mussolini's remains are kept together with those of his family in the monumental cemetery of Predappio.
